EcoRobotix, a Swiss start-up, produces autonomously operating robots for ecological and economical weed control. The robot weighs around 130 kilograms, moves autonomously, and orients and positions itself with GPS and a camera.

An image-capture system detects whether there are weeds and, if so, where they are located. Once it has identified a weed, the robot uses two robotic arms to spray a micro-dose of herbicide onto the weeds with pinpoint accuracy. igubal® rod end bearings are used to give the two robot arms the desired mobility.

Once they have been installed, the spherical bearings need no more attention – thanks to their lubrication-free properties, maintenance work is a thing of the past. They are also resistant to dust and dirt - entirely without a seal. Unlike lubricated metal bearings, they form no resin residue or paste-like mixtures that fix dirt to the bearing surface.
