Completely pre-harnessed energy chains with system guarantee – no matter who does the installation work

Hanover/Cologne, 16th September 2013 – igus GmbH guarantees safe, matching energy chain components and their simple installation on site. No matter who pre-harnesses or installs them. igus is able to offer this guarantee because all its products are subjected to continuous and intensive testing. Which means every igus readychain is a "safe-chain". A new, compact fluid module can supplement the energy chain by control technology, hydraulics, pneumatics, magnetic engineering and fluid sensor elements.

igus has been developing energy chains as ready-to-install modules under the name "readychain" for 20 years now. These are pre-harnessed energy chains with connectors and connections, interfaces and attachment parts, fixed pipelines and control cabinet – including a tailor-made installation and transport unit, the new readychain rack light for safe and straightforward installation on site. igus supports customers during the planning and development of tool machines with its long years of energy chain know-how.

System integration and new readychain partner programme
With the new readychain parter programme for harnessing companies all over the world, igus is issuing a system guarantee for completely pre-harnessed energy chain systems. No matter who harnesses or builds these systems – igus, the customer's harnessing company or the machine tool manufacturer himself. Users always receive safe, durable and perfectly matching products which have undergone comprehensive testing. Harnessing companies are certified by igus for the partner programme and supported where necessary. If the customer wishes to install the systems himself, the Cologne-based cables specialist provides additional professional advice for project planning and manufacturing. Following this system philosophy, igus is even going a step further with the new fluid module. In cooperation with other specialists, igus has integrated products from the fields of control technology, hydraulics, pneumatics, magnetic engineering and fluid sensors in this module.

This way, igus combines the best individual components and pre-harnessed energy chains to form complete solutions. Alongside the function guarantee for systems, customers now also have a guarantee for all the cables in the chainflex catalogue which goes far beyond mandatory guarantee regulations.

Safety and time-saving for mechanical engineers
With the igus guarantee programmes, mechanical engineering companies all over the world are given the safety they require, taking their individual manufacturing logistics into consideration. igus can issue these guarantees because it invests heavily in research and development and tests its solutions comprehensively under real conditions. In the company's own test laboratory, which has an area of 1,750 m², the company vision "plastics for longer life" can be experienced daily at over 180 test stations which carry out two billion test cycles per year, including one million chainflex cable tests – resulting in products which will move machines safely for a long time. The test results are fed into a database which is used as a basis to calculate the guaranteed product service life, which every user can calculate quickly online for almost all igus products.

Partner programme for the whole world
Beyond European boundaries. At eleven production locations world-wide, the energy chain specialist harnesses around 480,000 cables (readycable) and 76,000 energy chains (readychain) per year. For igus, intelligent production also means using standardised manufacturing documents and lean production processes locally, too, to be able to adhere to quality standards and short delivery times at competitive prices. 700 development and sales engineers in 31 countries as well as trained distributors in a further 40 countries make sure that every readychain delivered is guaranteed safe. The road to achieving this is clearly defined: intensive tests lead to safe, matching components which are pre-harnessed to readychain modules and delivered to the machine ready for quick and easy installation. Short installation times mean lower process costs – the faster the energy chain is at the machine, the faster the machine manufacturer can deliver.
