This bicycle frame was developed as a bachelor thesis at Aachen University. The topic was ”Design a bicycle frame under the aspects of lightweight engineering with the aid of additive manufacturing methods”. In addition to a low weight, the important factors in choosing a bearing for rocker link, bicycle arm and dropout for the frame were high resistance against soiling, humidity and influences of the weather. For this reason, the graduate decided to use a low-cost lubricantand maintenance-free plain bearing from igus®.
